By Ronald F. Patterson March ushers in spring. Well, for most of us it does. Crocus begin to bloom, spring rains wash away winter crud and put that certain smell in the air. Robins and Redwing Blackbirds return to Michigan.Keeping the feeders cleaned and filled becomes more frequent as activity increases in my yard. I feed and enjoy my birds year round and feeding in spring is just as important if not more so then winter feeding. By the time spring arrives most of nature’s offerings have been eaten. Yes, seeds, fruits, nuts,dead bugs and bug eggs are pretty much gone. With habitat disappearing everyday, we play a bigger role each year in helping our feathered friends. Migrants are coming and going now and the influx of birds keeps my Michigan yard hopping. Returning birds are hungry and weary. By offering food and fresh water you may get a strange visitor like a warbler or two.Some birds like a Rose-breasted Grosbeak may like your habitat and offerings. He’ll find a mate and stay the summer with you. Spring brings mating season. Mating season is a high energy time of year. Chasing off would be territory grabbers and courtship takes time and energy. I like to think I helped along with the romance when I see Mr. Cardinal giving Mrs. Cardinal one of my sunflower seeds. (I’m just an old softy). Take a look at the time and energy it takes to build a nest. What about egg laying, incubating, brooding and feeding all those hungry mouths.Is there a price tag on the entertainment value birds give us? I get a big charge out of watching parents feeding fledglings. By offering food, water and habitat, I’m helping to insure the next generation of avian friends. Sure, some of my friends come and go with the seasons while others stay year round. By offering quality food, fresh water, protection and a place to raise a family I will continue to have birds year round. For me, that is priceless. Many birds have different likes and dislikes, but you can’t go wrong with black oil sunflower seed. Oilers are by far the most wanted seed we can offer to attract the widest range of birds in your area. A bonus with oilers is this…. European Starlings can’t crack them open so they will soon leave your feeders. Offer in a separate feeder some white proso millet or sprinkle some on the ground for the ground scratching birds.Peanuts in special peanut feeders will have the woodpeckers, titmouse,nuthatches, chickadees and other birds hanging around all day. Nectar feeders require more work, but are well worth the rewards. Offer your seed in different feeders for different types of birds. Place your feeders where you can enjoy them. By Earl Erickson When my wife, Bobbie, died, I never anticipated whatthe repercussions might be when I purchased a double- header. Excuse my mortuary lingo. A double-header is a double headstone where two people, usually married,have their names engraved on their burial tombstoneat the cemetery. Sometimes an inscription readstogether again. I briefly worked for a mortuary many years ago. It was then, my family decided to pre-arrange their own funeral and burial arrangements. When my parentsdid their arrangements, my aunt and uncle followedwith theirs. I liked the idea and thought it was a smart idea. Then it came my turn many years later,when my wife passed away. I never thought it wouldbite me in the mouth if I decided to date or marry again. It was two years since my wife had died, that I thought I was ready to start a relationship again.A kind gesture on my part, instantly angered my new girlfriend. We were sitting outside on my deck,when my girlfriend said she was cold. So I went inside to retrieve two jackets. I was cold, also.When she saw my jacket on, while I was about to put hers on, she asked, why do you have two jacketsthe same? I sheepishly replied, it was my wifes.She was angered by my comment and was taking off the jacket I put on her, and she dropped it on the deckand she told me, Im not your dead wife! Her comment hurt my feelings. I was careful not to bring up my wife or anything that related to ourmarriage because I knew that wasnt the way to go in a new relationship. I made an innocent gesture to comfort her while she was cold and it turned into a nightmare. I tried to explain but it fellon deaf ears. I was angry myself, so I let her go stew on it. She left in her car. I kept thinking about that situation, and Ipondered over in my mind whether to apologize.I did that, but on the other hand I thought to myself, what a snob she is. Sometime later, another blooper came out and settled just outside mybig mouth. I had told my girlfriend, after we made up,that I had a double headstone on my grave. She wasangered once again by my comments. My comments weremade while I further explained to her about my twoidentical jackets. After my remarks were forgiven, I decided I wasntgoing to ask her to move in with me, until my newhouse next door was built and finished. I wasntgoing to have her move in to a place I shared with my wife. I knew something would come up and she would pitch a fit. Then it came time for me to ask her to move in and she said she woulda big mistake. It wasnt long after she moved in, that I thought Ibetter move this circle-planter I had made for my wife when the new house was only a vacant lot. Thecircle-planter I made for my wife was obstructingthe new driveway, so it had to be moved. The planterconsisted of a concrete-painted bear I gave to mywife for her birthday. I later bought a miniature windmill and placed it by the bear. Then we planted roses around this landscaped circle. Next to it,there sat a big rock. I painted the rock blue forthe sky and drew in white for Mt. Rainier in the forefront. Then I emblazed the words, Bobbies Mountain, in black lettering. My wife loved it. We named our property Bobbies Mountain because our house was on a hill like a mountain, and we had a gorgeous view of Mt. Rainierfrom our front yard. We loved Mt. Rainier. It was our favorite place to visit. When it came time to move the planter or dismantleit, I called a friend to help me move the heavy concrete bear and relocate it over to the other placenext door where I lived with my wife. I was going to keep that property and rent it out some day. As Iwas setting it up over there, I had displayed the arrangement the same as it was, except it wasnt in a circle anymore but in a large area I landscaped to fit it in. Now the arrangement was set, and I had it facing the new property. The rock still read Bobbies Mountain. I thought it looked greatin its new location. This way I could view it from my new house–a big mistake. Before my girlfriend could see it, I covered the rockthat read Bobbies Mountain with some landscapefabric. I knew some day, in case this new relationship didnt work out, I could just take off the fabric without redoing all my artwork. I thought the idea was a smartmove on my part. As months passed, it turned out that my girlfriendreally wasnt meant for me. We parted our ways–and not in good terms either. I just thought howinsensitive she was to my precious memories of my past. They meant so much to me and I thought I wasbeing careful not to mention my past. It just didntplease her what ever I did to keep mum. When she moved out, I held my own celebration. Notonly did I unveil the rock next door, I moved everything over to the new property and constructed a new site. Now it has a thirty foot flag pole with the bear next to it. The old windmill made of wood had broken down from rot decay, so I discarded it. The heavy rock with the art on it was too heavy to move, so I left it behind and I painted over the artwork in solid grey. Now I have the most gorgeous memorial garden a person could imagine. Instead of the infamous rock, I placed a granite marker next to the bear and flagpole that reads: In loving memory of my wife, Bobbie Jean, my yellow rose of Texas, who affectionately named this land, Bobbies Mountain. And to my aunt and uncle, Edith and Vernon Thomson, who made my dream home come true. And to my parents, Amanda and Hank Erickson, who gave me life and love. I wanted to include my aunt and uncle, who passedaway and left me a huge inheritance to build my new dream home and to my parents who gave me life and love. Now I have the best of both worlds, with the new memorial addition– in honor of my wife, my parents and my aunt and uncle. As far as future relationships go, I will move slowand careful from now on. If jealousy and anger move my next girlfriend into a tizzy, I will never claimher as my girlfriend or my wife. If a double header and casual memories of a life before upsets a new relationship, she can look for love elsewhere. I do not see anything wrong with honoring my wifes memory. And I dont see anything wrong with having a double header at my cemetery. After all, when I married it was meant to be forever. My advice for people in my predicament? Think twice about purchasing a double header, because where else will your second wife be buried? Obviously not with you. Maybe next to you–in a single headstone? And as for digging up bones–excuse the pun–recalling past memories, be well aware of the consequences. That’s when I noticed the street neatly lined with the giant brown bins issued by the city, all standing at attention waiting patiently to be emptied. I was lucky, they were all still full so I dragged mine out to join the crowd. Where does all this trash come from? The city sent out a notice saying we could buy a second bin, if needed. What are people throwing out that they need a second bin every week? How do they get that much stuff in their houses in the first place to have it to toss? Part of the answer may be that there is a lot more trash these days than there used to be. It seems as though every single tiny little thing you buy comes packaged in at least two boxes with literature and some padding. Let’s not forget junk mail which apparently is increasing exponentially each month. I know I have way more trash each week than seems theoretically possible. I have no idea where it comes from. I don’t remember bringing that much stuff home. How does it get there? Are sneaky reverse-thieves breaking into my house while I’m away and putting stuff in my house and filling up my trash baskets? I’m starting to think there’s trash secretly growing somewhere in my house in the back of a closet in the dark, like mushrooms. Which leads me to my next question: Where can all the trash possibly be going? It’s nice that a few of the things we toss out will actually disintegrate over time. But more and more our trash is filled with the innovations of mad-scientist, greedy mega-conglomerates, and will still be perfectly intact three thousand years from now, when possibly the human race will have long since nicely disintegrated. We’ll all be gone but the plastic package my snack chips came in will look like new, perched on top of a mountain of plastic milk jugs. I’m definitely not radical in my ecological opinions; you might be able to say I am a conservationist. I like to think I care, at least. I believe there is a point where we can’t escape the fact that we are, ourselves, responsible for the world on which we are living. If we can just protect the planet from our own stupidity, it will still be here for future stupid generations to ruin. Irene: Tell me about yourself and what inspired you to write a book for women. Steve: Several years ago I thought that I had met the love of my life. That relationship took a radical turn when the woman I loved met another man whom she later married. That was enough to jolt me into thinking more seriously about what really happens to people in romantic love relationships. At about the same time, I was attending workshops and seminars on personal development and ran across the work of motivational expert Tony Robbins. I joined Mr. Robbins organization as a seminar trainer and became well-versed in the studies of unconscious communication, goal achievement, and life mastery. One of the things that I found both fascinating and humorous was how advanced communication strategies worked in the dating world. About that time I went on a social rampage where I went on over 25 Club Med vacations and 20 singles cruises. That was when I thought about writing a book about my dating/social adventures using the things that I had learned as a trainer for Tony Robbins. Dating Rocks! is my second book. It is the result of over 225 radio and television interviews, 2 years of experience serving as iVillage.coms dating expert for the Ask Mr. Answer Man message board, and an additional 5 years of experience of dealing with dating/love/relationship issues. Irene: 240 pages seems like a lot of information that women need to know. Tell me some of the things that you tell women in the preparation phase before dating? Steve: Some of the smart dating moves that precede actually finding a man involve: 1) loving yourself first, 2) finding and fixing any personal blind spots, and 3) getting rid of any negative emotional baggage from the past. Many failures that women experience can be traced back to this pre-phase where low self-esteem or bad attitudes from the past ruin a womans chances for successful dating and love. So its important that women take a closer look at these issues if recurring problems show up in her relationships. Irene: Tell me some of the things that you tell women they should do to find a man Steve: Once a woman has taken care of the before-mentioned prerequisites, she can begin moving forward in her search for the right man. In this stage, some smart dating moves include: 1) making herself attractive to a man, 2) avoiding losing love candidates, 3) staying clear of low-percentage relationship situations, 4) learning vital people skills, 5) learning how to excel at small talk, 6) becoming an outstanding listener, and 7) meeting men while they are involved in worthwhile activities or through a network of friends. The next stage is about the actual dating process and includes: 1) interacting so that a man would feel comfortable asking a woman out for a date, 2) controlling the pace and direction of the dating process, and 3) gauging accurately how well the two to them click. Irene: And, how about how to keep him? Steve: You can only keep a man if the romantic chemistry and emotional maturity are both high. You also have to adjust his role to fit his priorities and level of desire. Then its a matter of managing a womans upsets, expanded the relationship into other areas of growth, maintaining an unlimited attitude of gratitude, and creating certainty and trust in the relationship. These may seem like big concepts, but each one can be broken down into simple, everyday acts of kindness and understanding that any person can practice in their romantic love relationships. Irene: Are these your own personal opinions or did you gather information from others? Steve: I read a lot of dating/relationship opinions while Im serving as the Mr. Answer Man for iVillage.com. But my base of knowledge comes from the seminars that I attended many years ago with relationship experts John Gray, Barbara DeAngelis, and Dr. Warren Farrell, as well as personal development/communication trainings with Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, Mark Victor Hansen, and the Dale Carnegie organization. So while my observations are my own personal opinions, they are well-grounded on concepts that I borrowed from experts that I highly regard. Irene: You mentioned your studies with masters like Tony Robbins. How much influence has he had on some of the writing in your book? Steve: Tony Robbins had more influence on my personal development than any other person or organization. I served for seven years as a personal development trainer doing intense seminars in Cancun, Hawaii, and the western United States. Mr. Robbins provided me with the motivation to write a book. My understanding of a key concept called global metaphors was a vital reason why I was able to write my first book, Men Are Like Fish: What Every Woman Needs to Know About Catching a Man. Almost all of my psychology background was learned through Mr. Robbins advanced seminars which were part of the trainers training. I simply took the concepts that I learned from his seminars and applied them to the unique and largely untested field of dating. Irene: You are a dating and relationship expert on an online discussion board. What is the most common issue that women share with men? Steve: Both men and women are frustrated in their search for the one. They both want a relationship with mutually high romantic chemistry, emotional maturity, and compatibility. But men seem to have more problems in maintaining high romantic chemistry with the women they fall for. Men also have more challenges in developing emotional maturity whereas women generally do not. Irene: What challenges do women face more so than men? Steve: Women have more challenges with self-esteem issues than men. They also seem to put more significance on love relationship and therefore, put more pressure on the situation in order to make it happen. It seems like men and women will often be out of rapport with each other because the woman needs a love relationship for fulfilling a wide variety of emotional needs. A man, on the other hand, wants love more for the enjoyment of being with a woman. A man can get his other emotional needs filled through his work, friends, and individual hobbies/sports. Irene: How much of relationships are modeled after what people see on TV or in the movies? Steve: People in their 20s and teens are greatly influenced by their peer group. Major media (television, movies, commercials, music) has a lot of power in conditioning people into what is considered attractive and what love should be like. But there are such a wide variety of movies out there that a balance can be struck between fantasy and reality when it comes to love relationships. But largely, the media tries more to sell the public on the idea of love at first sight as the more desired model for romantic relationships. Irene: What area do you think is the most modeled after? Steve: For women, media seems to influence the need to look skinny (except on top) and to wear certain types of sexy clothing in order to be physically desirable to men. It seems like the over-emphasis is on appealing to men in a sexual way. For men, it seems like the need to be financially successful (Donald Trump) or to be physically strong/tough (athletes, rap music) as the best way to impress women. The media also seems to focus a lot these days on celebrity break-ups and divorces which causes people to be less hopeful for lasting love relationships in their own lives. It almost appears that getting married is less of a commitment and more like a modern-day way to going steady..at least in Tinsel town. Irene: What is a healthy relationship in your opinion? Steve: A healthy love relationship has high levels of mutual romantic chemistry, emotional maturity, and compatibility. It has the side-effect of building mutual high self-esteem. A healthy relationship reinforces the values of honesty, trust, commitment, caring, and giving. And bottom line, a healthy relationship is one that I believe: 1) feels good, 2) is good for each person, 3) serves a greater good, and 4) the Heavens are smiling and blessing the relationship. Irene: Im sure the reading audience wants to know if you are in a permanent relationship now? Steve: Actually I get asked about this quite often. Yes, I am in a wonderful relationship with a woman I met a few years ago at a Dating Dinner. Shes a partner in a law firm and is actually a very busy person with tons of responsibility. Shes also read both of my books and has contributed her ideas from time-to-time. I really like her diversity in that she is obviously very intelligent and professional, but she can be just like a high school girlfriend when it comes to having fun. Our best times together in my opinion are the vacations that weve been on. That way, we both can get away and relax. I think its important for busy couples to plan time away together so that they have something great to look forward to. Third, it may make him law abiding simply by causing him to fear what would happen to him if he were to commit a crime again. Fourth, it would serve as an object lesson to other potential law violators. Fifth, by depriving him of his life or liberty it would completely prevent or temporarily or permanently curtail his criminal activities. The supreme object of all measures taken to fulfill these aims is to achieve the protection of the community and strengthening general respect for law and justice. What is Death Sentence? The term Death sentence stands for most severe form of punishment. It is the punishment which is to be awarded for the most heinous, grievous and detestable crimes against humanity. Death sentence is awarded to the most serious crimes such as treason , blasphemy , murder , rape , incest , bestiality , adultery , bigamy , for sex offences and drug trafficking and armed robbery. A Brief Historical Overview of the Death Sentence As a form of penalty, death sentence prevailed in the earliest Law of Moses which has had a significant influence on the shaping of capital justice in Western World. After bringing his people out of Egypt, the Lord, according to the Bible , gave Moses on Mount Sinai the Ten Commandments , to guide their conduct. Mosaic Law prescribed death sentences to adultery, murder, rape, working on Sabbath day, blasphemy, kidnapping and theft. Who ever commit all the above crime was stoned to death by the community. The Republic of Israel was constituted in 1948. Its parliament the Knesset abandoned the Mosaic law of a Lie for a life and abolished the death penalty in 1954 except for treason in wartime and for Nazi collaborators. Hammurabi came out with his code of laws which is known as Hammurabi code which are thousand years old. Hammurabi code delays when ever hurt is done, you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, bruise for bruise, wound for wound. Hebrew laws prescribed death sentence for crimes like adultery, rape, bestiality, blasphemy and non observances. Death penalty was frequently practiced among Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians and Egyptians. Greek law generally regarded homicide, treason and sacrileges as capital offences. The Romans were very hard in punishing the criminals. In Ancient India during the Mughal period King Akbar in 1852 forbade to award death penalty. The king himself acted as a judge for serious crimes. Death penalty could be inflicted by hanging , beheading , and impaling . Execution could take place by throwing a man down from the roof. Another common method was to get him criminal trampled under the feet of elephants. The other forms of punishing were leaving them in a room full of poisonous snakes. Yet another method was to get the criminal torn to pieces by dogs. The culprits were thrown to the crocodiles in the ditch. They awarded death penalty for rape, blasphemy, murder, theft, adultery, etc. After all this church came into existence, it got power to rule, to punish, and to maintain law and order. It awarded dearth penalty severely. The various methods of execution were the Babylonians used drowning, the Hebrews stoned. The Greeks allowed a free man to take poison but a slave was beaten to death. Roman usages included precipitation fro the Tarpian rock, strangulations, exposure to wild beasts, crucifixion and for patricide, the coleus (drowning a condemned man in a sack with a cock, a viper and a dog.In Britain hanging was generally used. In France it was the guillotine , in Spain the garrote was used and the head mans axe to the life of convicts in Germany. In USA the criminal was executed by the electric chair or the gas chamber, or by lethal gas or lethal injection In India the offender is hanged by neck. In Iran executions are carried out behind the prison walls and public executions are made. It is to be noted that for centuries death penalty was not debated so far as its legitimacy or its practical utility was concerned. Its acceptance in ancient societies seems to have depended on three principal causes. a) In significant values attached to human life or at least, to the life of any particular individual. b) Death of the criminal was considered to be just and necessary because for deviation must pay. c) The death penalty was to find natural support by the arrival or gradual establishment of an all powerful state. 4. Reasons for Retention of Death Sentence Death Sentence constitutes the only secure incapacitation that it increases respect for criminal law, and the execution of a person will serve as a warning to others who might plan crimes. Since murder is a heinous crime, the murderers should be punished with extreme penalty as a form of retaliation. The murderer or the crime does should suffer in equal measure and only then justice is done. In many cases it is life imprisonment for the criminals but after releasing from the imprisonment, this may result in the culprits repeating the crime, so death sentence is necessary. The retention of the death sentence will means a considerable saving to the sate. A condemned man is usually kept in prison for a year prior to his execution, where as life imprisonment will be probably 14 years or more behind bars. Likewise, a hardened murderer or dacoit or armed robber who kills and relishes killing and raping and murdering to such an extent that he is beyond rehabilitation within a reasonable period according to current psychotherapy or curative techniques may deserve the terminal sentence society survives by security for ordinary life. It has long been known that the queen has two X chromosomes and retains the male sperm after mating. She fertilises eggs only when the need arises to produce new nymph queens. The potato, that most ubiquitous and perennially popular vegetable, is simply sliced into strips and deep fried. The fast food chains have managed to create total consistency so that fries at a McDonalds in Kalamazoo are identical with those offered in San Francisco, Atlanta, Moscow, or Madrid. They are the ultimate finger food, easily consumed behind the wheel, standing in the subway, or walking down the street. Some of us choose to add ketchup, or vinegar, or salsa, but they also taste great just as they are. The civilized world has a giant addiction to the lowly tuber. It is hard to conceive of the centuries of eating that took place before potatoes were brought back to Europe from the New World and became a staple of every country’s cuisine. What did the poor eat before potatoes made their appearance? Bread? Grains? Vegetables? The advent of the potato changed our diets forever. It was easy to grow, plentiful, and cheap. Thick, country-style chips, shoe strings, curly and spicy -we loved them all: golden and crisp and perfect. French fries now make up 25% of our children’s intake of vegetables. Fast food nutritionists attempted to substitute healthier alternatives which were peremptorily dismissed by the majority of their customers. Fries remain the accompaniment of choice for all fast food: burgers, hot dogs, chicken, fish, roast beef, and ribs. We simply cannot get enough and never, ever, seem to tire of the little crunches of pleasure. The innocuous potato, relatively low in calories and packing its fair share of vitamins and minerals, has been transformed into a culinary weapon of mass destruction. Disfigured by saturated fat into a caloric and artery-hardening horror, the French fry may be the deadliest peril we face on a daily basis. Just a few orders of fries a week can increase our weight by ten pounds a year! Over a decade, that’s a hundred pounds, over a lifetime, an awe-inspiring figure. With 60% of us overweight, half of that figure actually obese, we must look to our dietary intake to find the cause. As diabetes and other weight-related conditions mushroom, we know in our hearts that lifestyle changes are needed. We go on diet regimens, drink liquid meals, fast, cut out sauces, and have our stomachs stapled. We join gyms, buy home exercise equipment, and follow along with television fitness shows. We blame the additives in our food, the hormones in our meat, and the fat in our salad dressings. We forsake the carbohydrates and sugars that our bodies can’t process and opt for high fiber breads and low fat milk. We refuse to believe, because we don’t want to believe, that a seemingly harmless, crisp little addition to our meal can pack such a lethal wallop. “But I just nibble a few,” you wail, “And not every day.” It’s not the single meal intake that leads to an explosion. It’s the cumulative total, day after day, year after year, that plants the time bomb within our system. It is the additive effect of repetitive use that eventually reaches critical mass and our physiology implodes. Imagine, if you will, that not one fry was sold or eaten over the course of a year, anywhere in the United States. With just that change alone, the collective national weight loss could exceed a billion pounds! The poor potato is ill-equipped to perform as a deadly weapon. It offers us enjoyment and variety and taste and health. But we have taken its honest goodness and distorted it into a slow killer. Male and female to the natural man refer to the men and woman of the human race. Men are distinct from woman in so many different ways not the least in body form, and their roles in life are clearly defined. The woman bears the children and supplies their need for sustenance and comfort, while the male works to supply the physical needs of the family. But when we consider man in creation, we are only speaking of one and not two. So we must understand the language of spirit when we read in Genesis chapter one that, “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them.” Male and female represent two aspects of God made evident in creation. Everything that God created found its origin in Him, that is in spirit. We must abandon the idea of God creating a horse, and then an elephant, and so on, until he had made everything we see on the earth today. If all of creation came out of spirit then everything must be a part of God who is that Spirit. So the human concept of God creating a man with a head, torso, two arms and two legs is pure fantasy. The man in Genesis one was pure spirit, invisible and intangible, and in the words of Scripture, in the likeness and image of God. Whatever God is, was just as applicable to that first man, who represented all of mankind, who are also omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. Male and female naturally bring us to humanity as we know it today, and define the great gap between man, as we understand him now with our darkened mentality, and the spirit man as he was created in the beginning. Today male and female is simply a physical distinction based upon the natural body and its design. Our failure to understand spiritual language has completely distorted the whole picture. In creation male and female were united in the man God created in Genesis chapter one, and did not function independently of each other. In the creation of man, God did not need any help from anyone or anything outside of himself. This takes us far beyond the egg and sperm of our present concept of conception and reproduction. However, God who is Spirit, was able to produce man out of the invisible realm without any external assistance, providing him (man) with the same divine ability to reproduce out of himself, because he was Spirit also. The command given to that first man, who was Christ, was for him to be fruitful and fill the earth. Everything necessary to reproduce after his kind was within him, for that spirit contained both the male and the female united and functioning as one. However Christians today generally consider that Gods purpose is for man to select a wife and get married and then have children, based upon the egg and the sperm. Of course we understand that this does not constitute our children as the children of God, so we then have to teach them about a new birth, and to seek to convert them by religious means to become “the children of God.” Man has lost his true identity, believing his natural birth from egg and sperm is his origin, constituting mankind a mortal, human being. Christendom has therefore had to devise a method to change our natural children, born of a woman, into the spiritual children of God. However scripture refers to this “man” as being “male and female,” but these two aspects of his being are united as “one” in this creature called man. This is the original pure spirit man, as he came from the Creators hand. The divine declaration is that he was “male and female,” the body or form was to come later, to become a vehicle for the visible expression of the “likeness of God.” Being male and female means that he would be able to reproduce out of himself without any help from outside. So now let us look at creation as it is recorded for us in the scriptures. First of all we must remember that everything that came forth into visibility had its origin in the invisible realm of spirit. Scripture declares that God is Spirit, and therefore invisible and eternal. God conceived the idea of creation in his infinite mind, so that it became the true origin of everything that was created. Then as the thoughts developed into ideas the next step was to give expression to them through the “Word.” And God said, “Let there be Light, and Light appeared.” Just ponder these words and the awesome power of the Word that he spoke. In God we see the spiritual “male and female” aspect producing everything that God purposed to create, and he required nothing outside of himself to make it possible. How very earthy are the thoughts of man under the spell of the Adamic dream, to consider male and female just physical phenomena. Some of the worst aberrations in human behavior relate to the abuse of sexuality with all its related pain and suffering. The darkness of the human heart has hid completely the qualities God has built into man in creation, but have been lost due to the hypnotism of the material-sense world. In creation, man was male and female, and because he came out of God he was also spirit. However, spirit has two aspects to its function and includes the soul. In creation the spirit and soul, or the male and the female, functioned together in total union. Spirit is the male and the soul is the female or the womb, so that in concert they have the ability to birth a manifestation of the spirits true identity. The soul consists of the mind, emotions and the will, but remember that the soul and spirit functioned as one in creation and will always be.
